I adore dark chocolate, sweet potatoes make me swoon, and I can inhale grapes faster than I can air. I have an unhealthy obsession with sunny-side-up eggs, a tendency to add avocado to whatever I eat, and a firm belief that everything tastes better with bacon.
I aim to nourish my body with the food I eat, without sacrificing flavor or variety. I adopted the Paleo diet after suffering from undiagnosed digestive issues, and it was the best decision I could’ve made. Eliminating gluten, grains, dairy, refined sugars and processed foods has healed my gut better than any medicine ever could. However, now that my gut is healed, I don’t feel the need to strictly subscribe to any style of eating. I believe in finding what works for you, and in my case, I have been able to reintroduce many foods (including gluten in small amounts, which I often consume in the form of doughnuts 🙂 ) Above all though, I am a nutrivore: I eat nutrient dense foods and aim to obtain all my micronutrients from real, whole foods.
I eat for athletic performance, health, and strength. After lifting weights and CrossFitting for a couple years, I switched gears and took up competitive Powerlifting and Strongman, so I eat A LOT.
I write this blog from Columbus, Ohio, where I work as the Creative Community Director for Snapfluence.
